Chelsea winger Eden Hazard scored against Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday evening, as Jose Mourinho’s side ground out a valuable 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge to boost their title hopes, reports BBC
Manchester United started strongly in the first-half, and came close to scoring earlier on from forward Wayne Rooney. But the England international’s effort curled wide of the target, and Chelsea eventually took advantage in the opening 45 minutes.
The always deadly Eden Hazard was put through on goal, and cleverly slipped the ball through the legs of United goalkeeper David De Gea to give Chelsea the lead. The Belgian’s goal was key for the Londoners, as they know had something to hold onto, and were already set up to nullify the attacking threat of United.
Manchester United enjoyed long spells of possession, but struggled to find the breakthrough against a resilient Chelsea defence. Manager Jose Mourinho set his stall out to keep the top-four hopefuls quiet, and the gameplan was working effectively in the second-half, as Louis van Gaal’s side could not create a clear cut opportunity despite the superior possession.
