Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been ruled out of making a big-money move away from the Midlands club in the summer, according to his agent Eric Kismet, reports Sky
The Belgian international, 24, has enjoyed an incredible turnaround in form under new manager Tim Sherwood, which has seen his stock rise once more. Benteke has endured a difficult time with the Villans after a fantastic breakthrough season in 2012/13 that saw him score 19 Premier League goals.
He’s continued to hit double figures in his two following seasons, but only had two goals in the league to his name this campaign until Sherwood replace sacked manager Paul Lambert in February.
And his form has led to clubs around Europe once again piquing an interest in his services this summer. Tottenham were previously interested, and Liverpool could well make an approach at the end of the season.
However, his agent Eric Kismet has revealed that Benteke will remain at Villa Park regardless of what clubs come in for him at the end of the campaign. The representative has previously been guilty of talking up his client to attract interest, but says his immediate future lies in the Midlands.
“At the moment, there is no interest. Every player and staff member is concentrated on avoiding relegation, anything else is just a distraction. I know everyone wants the same thing because I watch the games and I think Aston Villa are playing the best football in England right now,” he said.
