Crystal Palace vs Man City – Premier League preview and team news

Manchester City will be determined to regain second place in the Premier League, and all the pressure is on them as they face a tricky game at in-form Crystal Palace.

The hosts have been among the most exciting teams to watch in the top-flight of late, surging clear of the bottom three in the process and maybe sensing a late run into the top half. Away form is particularly electric, with more success on the road at Stoke City before the international break.

While that was a smash and grab victory, the last home game against Queens Park Rangers was an exhibition of dynamic play, and wingers Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha will surely fancy their chances against the champions, whose defending in recent weeks has often been far from secure.

A strong start is what Man City need, rather than a sluggish performance akin to the one at Burnley, where they struggled to create chances. Victory over West Bromwich Albion last time out was handed to them on a plate by an early sending off, but it was the ideal scenario to follow a Champions League exit.

David Silva was outstanding yet again against Albion in a game where City dominated possession. They can probably expect to do so again here, but they must be wary of Palace’s pace on the counter attack, while they also come into this knowing that defeat will all but end their title aspirations.

There are no new injury concerns for Crystal Palace, who are without suspended captain Mile Jedinak along with injured trio Fraizer Campbell, Marouane Chamakh and Jordon Mutch.

Yaya Toure will be fit for Man City having missed the West Brom clash, and James Milner could feature despite suffering with a knee problem.
