Former Manchester City midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes Manchester United can still win the Premier League title this season, ahead of their clash against fierce rivals Manchester City, reports Sky
Also a former Liverpool player, the German midfielder believes the former of Louis van Gaal’s side could see them challenge Chelsea in the coming weeks, should the Blues stumble in the title race in their big games to come. United have earned some big results of late, beating Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford last month, and Liverpool at Anfield a week later.
Manchester United have won five Premier League games on the bounce, and are hoing to make up the ground on leaders Chelsea in the coming weeks, as Jose Mourinho’s side face the likes of Arsenal, Liverool and United in their remaining games to come. Hamann feels, Chelsea’s fixtures against the elite sides, as well as United’s impressive form, could well see the title race still open at the latter stages of the campaign, and doesn’t feel Van Gaal’s men can be discounted from a league pursuit just yet.
He’s tipping the in-form Red Devils to push Chelsea all the way, saying: “”The way United played at Anfield recently – that was the best Manchester United I’ve seen in a long time. They looked like the United of old. I can see United going on a roll now and, depending on how Chelsea do in the last seven or eight games, they may make a late push for the title if they win on Sunday – which I expect them to do.”
