Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has confirmed that he would like his long-term future to be at the West London club in spite of persistent rumours linking him with a move away, Sky
The Belgian signed a lengthy new contract earlier in the season, but that has not stopped speculation that European champions Real Madrid could make a huge bid for him as early as this summer; talk intensified by recent comments from Bernabeu legend Zinedine Zidane, who is the favourite to replace Carlo Ancelotti as manager.
But Hazard, who has been tipped by many to pick up the Premier League’s Player of the Year award after a succession of outstanding performances this season, believes his best chance of claiming silverware lies at Stamford Bridge. “I am happy here. I play with big players and the most important thing is I want to win trophies and with this club, it is possible.”
“We play against a big team, but one day I hope I can win this trophy as it is the best. All the big players have won the Champions League and I hope I can bring, like Didier [Drogba] did, the Champions League to Stamford Bridge.”
Boss Jose Mourinho has recently stated that it would take at least £200m for Chelsea to even consider selling Hazard, who also has ambitions of eclipsing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and being regarded as the world’s best player. Meanwhile, helping Chelsea to victory in their next two games would secure his first Premier League title.
