Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes the Gunners have a real chance of winning the Premier League title next season. He feels current league leaders Chelsea will face their London rivals, given how impressive their form has been at the end of the season, reports Sky
Arsenal are currently enjoying an eight-game winning run in the Premier League that sees them second in the table, with six games remaining. Arsene Wenger’s side have beaten the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United (FA Cup), t prove their credentials against the league’s best.
And with real improvement having been shown from Arsenal in the last few months, Martin Keown believes a title challenge could be on the cards providing they can start strongly. Chelsea look on course to win the Premier League this season, but the Blues face Arsenal later this month, which could see Jose Mourinho’s side finally come unstuck against Wenger.
Keown feels his former side still need one or two new players in the summer, but feels they can win the title in 2015/16. He said: “Next season, (Chelsea) will be aware of Arsenal. They will want to challenge next season and they will want to start well next year. They need to strengthen in one or two positions but look more convincing as a team than they did last year. The players look together. The squad is better equipped now.”
