Lambert: I wouldn’t be surprised if Klopp snubs the Premier League

Former Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert doesn’t believe Jurgen Klopp will come to the Premier League for next season when he steps down as manager of German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, reports BBC Sport.

Klopp recently announced he would be ending his long stay in charge of BVB, citing that he was no longer the man to take the club forward. This season, the German club have struggled all through the campaign, and their recent resurgence has been halted following consecutive league defeats.

With Dortmund miles off the pace in the fight for a European place, while having made to ensure the departures of the side’s top players, Klopp will be leave the club, which has put a lot of sides on red alert for 2015/16.

Manchester City are the bookies’ favourite to be his next destination, with the Sky Blues potentially axeing current boss Manuel Pellegrini in the summer following a poor campaign. But Paul Lambert – who won the Champions League as a player with Dortmund, and is good friends with Klopp – feels the German coach could avoid a Premier League move in his next position.

“I wouldn’t expect it. It wouldn’t surprise me if he never came. He’s going to be in demand from a lot of countries and he will be a big name for a lot of teams,” he said.
