Chelsea are currently seven points ahead of the rest of the competition, and still have a game in hand. They have a difficult run of games to come, with Manchester United (home), Arsenal (away), and Liverpool (home) some of their fixtures before the season comes to a close. Such games could see them slip-up, as all three sides have an agenda that will see them fighting for a result, but Le Tissier feels Chelsea are too far ahead of the Premier League to be caught.
“Even if United can produce a win I still think it will be nailed on for Chelsea to be honest. The gap is too big with so few games remaining. When you’ve got someone like Jose Mourinho as your manager you don’t let it slip, he’s got far too much experience and know-how to see the season through. I just can’t imagine Chelsea leaving the door open for somebody with the gap there would still be and with so few games to go,” he said.
The past record suggests he’s right too, as Mourinho has a very good record of delivering the title when his side are top of the table at the latter part of the season. He will have spent his time getting the layers focused to get over the line, as they don’t need many more wins to seal the league crown.
