Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata is looking forward to facing fierce rivals Manchester City next weekend, with the Red Devils enjoying their best run of form of the season, reports Sky
Louis van Gaal’s side recently saw past Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend, which was their fifth consecutive win. The result also saw them go above Manchester City in the table, with seven games remaining, which will make for an enthralling battle until the end of the season. Their next game is fierce rivals and current league holders Manchester City, who they face on Sunday.
The top-four looks sealed following Liverpool’s latest defeat to Arsenal, as there are seven points separating 4th and 5th in the Premier League. It could be a 10 point gap should City win their game in hands against Crystal Palace, but the focus for Mata is getting one over the Sky Blues in the derby clash at Old Trafford. Many will back United for a win given the contrast in form between the two sides, and the in-form Spanish international certainly feels they can come away with a victory next weekend.
“The team is improving, this is our fifth consecutive win in the Premier League and we want to keep this streak. Winning the derby against City the next Sunday could be very important for the battle in the top four. A derby is always special and we must be careful with City’s attacking players, because they can win the game in an isolated play,” he said.
