Reading 1-2aet Arsenal: Sanchez brace sees the Gunners reach the FA Cup final

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez scored two goals against Reading, as the Londoners booked their place in the FA Cup final at Wembley, with Royals goalkeeper Adam Federici having made a costly second-half error that saw the Championship outfit go behind in extra time, reports BBC Sport.

Arsenal took the lead in the first-half through Sanchez. The Chilean international was full of running all game, and rounded off a good move from the Gunners to put them ahead. In-form playmaker Mesut Ozil curled a beautiful pass beyond the Reading defence, and Sanchez brought the ball down in the area, side-stepped one challenge, before coolly slotting home minutes before the half-time break.

Reading, who made a good account of themselves in the first-half, came out of the blocks in the second 45 minutes of normal time, and did find a deserved equaliser. Arsenal were lacklustre for most of the evening, and the Royals made them pay, with Gareth McCleary sliding a cross home from close range.

The game went to extra time, but it was Arsenal who came away the victors, after a Sanchez shot somehow went through the legs of the Reading goalkeeper, who was inconsolable at the final whistle. Arsenal have reached the FA Cup final against Aston Villa/Liverpool, while Reading’s focus returns on domestic form.
