Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that if his side fail to lift the FA Cup trophy, and miss out on a top-four spot in the Premier League, their season will be somewhat of a failure, reports the Express.
But their destiny is in their own hands in the FA Cup this season, and beating Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park would put them just 90 minutes away from reaching the final at Wembley. It would somewhat make up for their European failure if they could win the domestic cup, but Rodgers admitted their season was be pretty catastrophic to have thrown away their only remaining chance of success.
“Our objective was to win a trophy. If we didn’t get in the top four and we didn’t have a trophy this year, we ourselves would be disappointed. We want to be able to be challenging every year. It would mark a good step forward for us,” he said.
