Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna says the Sky Blues have seven cup finals left to push for the title and save their season, after suffering their third consecutive away defeat, courtesy of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, reports Sky
City’s latest defeat sees them nine points off Premier League leaders Chelsea, but they still have a chance to catch the Londoners if they win their remaining games.
Chelsea still have to face Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, so any slip-ups could well see another side take advantage. City just haven’t found any moment in 2015, and have all but gifted the league crown to Chelsea after finishing on the wrong end of 2-1 result against the Eagles.
Manchester City look set for a trophyless campaign as a result of their failings in the Premier League, and their title defence could be over without much of a whimper in the end.
Right-back Bacary Sagna acknowledged that Chelsea can only be caught if the holders start picking up some results, and he’s dubbed their remaining games “cup finals” highlighting just how important they could be for the future of many players at the club.
“It’s going to be seven finals from now till the end of the season. That was the first one and we lost. It is disappointing not to take any points (from the game) because we had the chances to score. We created some good chances and unfortunately we conceded some goals,” he said.
