Swansea vs Hull – Premier League preview and team news

Hull City will be intent on putting more distance between themselves and the drop zone as they look to beat Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium for the first time.

The home side will surely be full of confidence having returned to eighth in the Premier League with a late but deserved victory at Aston Villa, where Bafetimbi Gomis made up for earlier missed chances with the winner, continuing what has been a superb season under Garry Monk.

It was another game where the Swans attacked with vibrancy and freedom, but it yielded yet another clean sheet. Their defence has turned into one of the strongest in the Premier League, with Lukasz Fabianski maintaining excellent form in goal. The return of Ki Sung-Yueng from injury is also a major boost.

Few expected Hull to put up much of a fight when they went two goals down to leaders Chelsea in the opening nine minutes in their meeting before the international break, but the Tigers produced arguably their best attacking football of the season to get back to level terms by half-time.

The movement of striking duo Abel Hernandez and Dame N’Doye gave Chelsea numerous problems in an enthralling game, but a mistake from goalkeeper Allan McGregor ensured they lost it in the second half. Still, there are plenty of positives to take going into this one, the first of a difficult run-in.

Swansea have lost midfielder Tom Carroll for a month after he withdrew from the England U-21 squad with an ankle injury. Jefferson Montero should be fit enough to play a part.

Tom Huddlestone completes a two-match ban for Hull, with are also without injured pair Robert Snodgrass and Nikica Jelavic.
