Ivanovic: Mourinho is always three games ahead of the opposition

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic believes manager Jose Mourinho is always so many steps ahead of the rest of the competition, which is why the Blues won the Premier League so emphatically. The Serbian international says Mourinho never steps thinking ahead, reports Sky Sports.

Chelsea have sealed the Premier League title with games to go, and they haven’t lost to a side in the top-five of the division all season. The Blues have beaten the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham, and have displayed impressive defensive performances to gain results against their rivals. Manager Jose Mourinho has long been known for his approach when facing the league’s elite, and this season he’s showcased exactly why he deserves such universal praise.

The Londoners have been top of the Premier League table since day one, which is a record to have sealed the title. Ivanovic believes the manager is to thank for their successful campaign, as Mourinho is always thinking ahead. The Chelsea boss plans for the present, but is working hard to ensure the side are fully prepared for what is to come.

Ivanovic says Mourinho’s meticulous approach has been key, saying: “In the first couple of weeks working with him, you are already changing your mind, changing your philosophy. When I’m looking just from the side, when we’ve got a game tomorrow, he’s already played the three games in front. He knows everything about football, about the game.”
