Swansea’s Neil Taylor could sign new deal in the coming weeks

Swansea City defender Neil Taylor has been offered a new contract, as his existing deal at the Liberty Stadium only had a year to run. It’s thought, however, that manager Garry Monk is still eyeing up another left-back this summer, reports Sky Sports.

The Welsh international has been at the club for five years, joining from Wrexham, and has been a key component of the side since they earned promotion to the Premier League. He lost his place in the starting eleven last season due to injury woes and the form of his stand-in Ben Davies, but has since impressed in the defence following Davies’ sale to Tottenham.

Taylor, 26, has many years ahead of him, but had been linked with a move away this summer, with Crystal Palace reportedly lodging a bid for his services. Swansea are still looking for another left-back to sign, potentially as cover and competition for the long-serving defender.

Manager Garry Monk has played alongside Taylor before he became the boss, and he’s been a regular since he took full-time charge, so his future should lie with Swansea, providing Taylor agrees to sign the dotted line.
