Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero scored the only goal of the game, as the Sky Blues emerged somewhat fortunate to come away with all three points against Tottenham Hotspur, reports BBC
Tottenham Hotspur were strong from the off against a struggling Manchester City side who couldn’t get their bearings in defence, but the Londoners just couldn’t get the breakthrough their play deserved. Harry Kane in particular was guilty of missing opportunities, with the England international having a difficult afternoon.
Sergio Aguero punished Tottenham’s profligacy by scoring on the break inside of half an hour. The Argentine wrong footed Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris with a side-footed effort into the roof of the net.
The goal was against the run of play, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side just couldn’t find an equaliser. Kane spurned a glorious opportunity to level the game in the second-half when he opted to go it alone instead of squaring a pass when the City goalkeeper was caught coming off his line.
Manchester City ultimately held on for the victory, and Tottenham were left to rue the countless opportunities they had to get something from the match.
