Sought-after Brazilian under-21 international Felipe Luis has shot down Manchester United’s hopes of signing him this summer by declaring his intention to stay with Italian giants Lazio, according to the Daily
Manchester United Transfer Gossip
The creative midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for weeks now, with United scouts reportedly heading over to Italy to monitor his progress.
Reports broke last month that United had been lining up a £36m bid for his services, but Felipe Anderson, who was all too aware of the interest, has claimed that he is not interested in making the switch as he is happy to stay in Rome.
“My future? All I know is that in the next season I will play for Lazio, I have recently extended my contract for five more season,” he said.
“I am focused on my club only. I don’t know anything about other offers, my future is in Rome”.
Lazio had stated that they would have considered doing a deal for the player should an interested party meet their £40m valuation, but Anderson’s agent, Stefano Castagna, has reaffirmed the player’s desire to stay put.
“It’s a good thing that the big teams are interested in him, it proves that he’s doing well,” Castagna said.
“He has just signed his new contract and he is very happy in Rome.
“I do not see any particular problem with the fact that he has prolonged his stay at Lazio, even without the Champions League.
“It would be ideal to play [in the Champions League] but the most important thing is to qualify for the European Cup. The Europa League, that’s fine.”
Felipe Anderson has featured 32 times for Lazio this season, bagging 11 goals in the process.
