Jose Mourinho is considering the possibility of making a surprise bid for Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele, according to The Sun.
The Belgian has fallen out of favour with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, so The Sun suggest that he may be available for around £12m.
And he could be joined at Stamford Bridge by Everton youngster John Stones, who is very highly-rated by the Premier League champions, the Daily Mirror report.
The 21-year-old was one of the top flight’s best young defenders last season, and already boasts a handful of England caps, so may be considered as a long-term replacement for veteran skipper John Terry. The Mirror suggest that the Blues are also tempted as he would help the club fill the home-grown quota.
Gary Cahill has revealed that his success for both club and country was the best response to the criticism that has come his way this year, the Daily Star report.
“That’s football. It goes in one ear and out the other. The answer on both fronts is to keep winning, keep doing what we’ve been doing this season,” he explained.
The defender has enjoyed one of the best years of his impressive career, having helped the Blues clinch their fourth Premier League crown, as well as maintaining a regular place in Roy Hodgson’s England side that went unbeaten this season.
Cahill could be competing for a place in Jose Mourinho’s team next year however, as the Daily Mirror report that Real Madrid’s Pepe is on the radar, after discussions over a new deal at the Bernabeu stalled.
The 32-year-old has worked with the Chelsea boss previously, and the Mirror suggest it will cost around £10.5m for the pair to link up again.
Finally, the Blues have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Zenit midfielder Axel Witsel, after the Daily Express reported that the Russian side have had a bid rejected for his potential replacement Georginio Wijnaldum.
