The 26-year-old will officially link up with the Villans on July 1 when his deal with City finally expires.
Having spent the previous campaign on loan with Serie A giants Fiorentina, he was told that he had no future at City by manager Manuel Pellegrini.
He struggled to get game time in Italy, too, as not long after he joined Viola boss Vincenzo Montella switched to a back three, thus leaving him to try and fight his way back into the side in a system that didn’t particularly suit him.
However, having helped City to both league and FA Cup success in the past, as well as putting 13 England caps to his name, he will be joining Villa with a point to prove.
Manager Tim sherwood said: “I’m really pleased to get Micah on board and I’m sure he will prove to be an excellent signing for the football club.”
