Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has urged his old club to go and get Gareth Bale this summer if they wish to dominate the English game again.
According to The Sun, Yorke believes that the Real Madrid man is the kind of the player that the club should be targeting during this window.
“He’s British, he’s exciting, he’s quick, fast, he goes past people and that will lift everyone going forward. That would excite everybody,” he said.
Having scored in both the Champions League and Copa Del Rey finals in his first season, the Welshman’s second year has been considered a challenging one, despite scoring 13 times in La Liga.
He appears to have been made something of a scapegoat at times this season, with Madrid failing to keep in touch with Barcelona in the top flight, and losing to Juventus in the semi-final of the Champions League.
However, Yorke still believes that he has the quality to justify being the world’s most expensive player, The Sun report, and lead United back into the Premier League title picture after two years spent out of contention.
“When he is in full flow he is one of the best in the world,” Yorke insisted.
“That’s why Madrid paid all the money for him. If I was signing one player for United this summer, it would be him,” he added.
