Former Manchester United hero Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly halted his holiday in an attempt to persuade Sergio Ramos to stay with Real Madrid.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Premier League side have had a bid of £35m rejected for the 29-year-old, as it fell well short of Madrid’s £65m valuation. Nevertheless, the Mirror expect Louis van Gaal to make another offer, which evidently worried the Spanish giants’ talisman as he decided to phone his teammate and urge him to remain at the Bernabeu.
Ramos is not entirely happy at the club where he has spent the last decade, the Mirror report, as his contract situation has left him questioning his future at the club.
But, Ronaldo’s desire to see him to stay may persuade the Madrid hierarchy to find a resolution that sees Ramos remain. However, with the Mirror reporting that United goalkeeper David de Gea remains a key target, they may decide that a compromise may have to be reached, that then sees both players on the move this summer.
