Here is Sunday’s news and gossip concerning Liverpool:
Liverpool appear to have missed out on Carlos Bacca, after the Daily Star reported that the Sevilla man had agreed to move to AC Milan.
The Colombian had been on the Reds’ radar, but the Italian side appear to be closing in on a deal after triggering his release clause.
With Bacca seemingly heading elsewhere, the Metro report that Brendan Rodgers is planning an audacious bid for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The 27-year-old wants to leave Stadio San Paolo, but the club want £46m for him.
Rodgers also wants Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi, and has upped his bid to £15m to secure him, the Metro report.
The Spaniard has failed to make an impression at the Bernabeu, so it seems unlikely that Rafael Benitez will stand in his way if he wishes to leave.
The Daily Express report that Liverpool target Arda Turan has confirmed that his agent is speaking to clubs about a possible move.
“My agent is currently in touch with 3-4 clubs. I will update you all if a deal is made,” he explained.
Finally, the Reds have opened talks with Ludwig Augustinsson, the Metro report.
The FC Copenhagen defender hit the headlines earlier this summer, when he described the England under-21 side as, “overrated.”
