With James Milner, Danny Ings, and Adam Bogdan already signed for next season, Liverpool appear keen to get their fourth signing through the door as quickly as possible.

The Metro report that representatives have travelled from Merseyside all the way to Croatia to try and tie up a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The 21-year-old has been on international duty, helping Niko Kovac’s side seal a draw with Italy in their European Championship qualifier. And the Metro suggest that a group from Anfield will meet him shortly to get the move across the line, with the Metro reporting that a £16.6m fee has already been agreed.
Should the deal happen, then the youngster will be tasked – along with the likes of Milner and Jordan Henderson – with filling the gap that has been left by former captain Steven Gerrard. Given the ex-England skipper’s influence at the club for nearly the last two decades, it would be impossible for Brendan Rodgers to even try and replace him with a similar type of player, especially one that has come from the outside rather than through the ranks at Melwood.
Taking a fresh approach is surely the way to go if the manager wants his new side to avoid comparisons, as well as fans crying out for the legend’s return, meaning that the potential trio of the Croatian, Milner, and Henderson will need to share the workload that Gerrard spent years carrying on his own.
Given the man that Kovacic would be replacing in the middle of the park – should the deal go through – the pressure will be on him instantly to prove that he can have an impact that gets the Kop rocking.
