Here is Sunday’s news and gossip concerning Manchester United:
United have made a second bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, according to the Daily Star.
After having their first offer of £32m rejected, Louis van Gaal has gone back in with a bid of £42.5m. However, the Star report that Los Blancos want £50m for the 29-year-old.
Another player possibly coming from the Spanish capital is Arda Turan, after the Metro reported that talks have been held regarding the possible signing of the Atletico Madrid man.
The 28-year-old will cost £29m, but Chelsea are also keen.
Turan could be playing in midfield alongside Morgan Schneiderlin next season, as the Daily Star report that United have agreed a £25m fee for the Southampton stalwart.
The Frenchman will reportedly earn £100,000 a week at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are also keen to strengthen their defence this summer, with The Sun reporting that Everton’s Seamus Coleman currently sits high on van Gaal’s wishlist.
The Sun suggest that it may cost United £20m to sign the 26-year-old.
Finally, former United forward Dwight Yorke has backed Victor Valdes to replace David de Gea, should the Spaniard head to Real Madrid, the Metro report.
“He’s got a wealth of experience and has won everything in the game. He will probably be a suitable candidate and fill that gap,” Yorke explained.
