Manager Louis van Gaal is desperate to add some significant quality to his squad this summer, and reports in Italy are claiming that he will look to strike deals for the impressive threesome in the coming weeks.

United’s search for defensive reinforcements so far this summer have proved to be frustrating and fruitless, as they’ve apparently made moves for the likes of Mats Hummels and Nicolas Otamendi to no avail.

With Valencia demanding £35m for Otamendi, it’s not not looking likely that a deal will be agreed, and instead United will turn their attentions towards De Vrij and Boateng.

Talks with Bayern are already believed to be underway, but the move for De Vrij could be included as a part of a double raid on in-demand playmaker Felipe Anderson.
