Vastly experienced Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been told to ask for a move if he wants to join up with Louis van Gaal at Manchester United this summer, according to the Metro.
The 30-year-old World Cup winner has emerged as a surprise target for the Red Devils recently, as he faces an uncertain future at the Alianz Arena with Bayern looking to add a more youthful element to their squad.
However, despite the speculation linking Schweinsteiger with a move to Old Trafford, Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that there are yet to be any talks held about a deal.
Louis van Gaal has previously worked with Schweinsteiger during his time in charge at Bayern, where he famously converted the player from a wing-back into a central midfielder.
The Dutchman is known to be in the market for a deep-lying midfielder, thus prompting the rumours about a potential move for the Bayern icon.
