Manchester United New and Goals
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has become a surprise name on Louis van Gaal’s shopping list, as the Dutchman prepares to miss out on Atletico Madrid forward Mario Mandzukic, who is Juventus bound, according to The Sun.
The Belgian has previously hinted that he may be forced into a move in the future, after suggesting that he needs to be somewhere where he is going to win trophies.
And that move could be spell the end for Robin van Persie at Old Trafford. The Sun also report that Turkish side Galatasaray are keen on making a move for the 31-year-old.
However, with van Persie previously stating his desire to remain with the Premier League side, the club are also looking at his countryman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
One player potentially stalling on a move away from England, is goalkeeper David De Gea. The Sun suggest that the Spaniard has reportedly told Real Madrid that he is not happy to move to the Bernabeu, should Iker Casillas remain with the club.
The Sun report that the 24-year-old is not willing to battle it out with the legendary stopper for the number one spot.
United have enlisted the help of agent Jorge Mendes, as they try to get a deal done for Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi, the Daily Star report.
The Star report that the two clubs are currently £10m apart in their valuation of the 27-year-old with the La Liga side wanting the full £35m to activate the release clause in his contract. United are hoping that Mendes can help get the move across the line.
And it appears that the Valencia man is not the only defender on van Gaal’s target list, as the Daily Star also report that United have made an enquiry for Real Madrid man Raphael Varane.
However, the Star suggest that Los Blancos have told United that the Frenchman is not for sale.
