Manchester United have decided that they would rather lose David de Gea next summer for nothing, than let him move to Real Madrid for anything less than their £35m asking price.
According to the Daily Mirror, Louis van Gaal is not willing to let the Spaniard go during this window unless Los Blancos make him the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
However, the Red Devils are running the risk of watching the 24-year-old leave without a fee next season, as the Mirror report that his contract expires in 12 months. And with the Spanish giants only offering £20m now, this transfer saga may come down to who blinks first. If de Gea stays at Old Trafford for another year, then United fans will be hoping that he has a change of heart and decides to sign a new deal with the Premier League side.
United on the other hand, are willing to offer £35m for one of their top targets, with the Mirror reporting that they have made a bid for Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. However, with the offer rejected, it appears that this potential move also appears locked in a stalemate.
