Wenger wants to offload the likes of Joel Campbell, Yaya Sanogo and Lukas Podolski, who have all failed to impress him last season.

He believes that the offloading the misfiring trio will free up around £25m to put towards sealing the signature of the Colombian international.

Spanish sides Villarreal and Real Sociedad, as well as Portuguese giants Benfica, are all said to be keeping tabs on Campbell, while Sanogo was shipped out on loan to Crystal Palace last term, though it is unknown whether they are interested in taking him back again.

The Gunners could face a stumbling block with offloading Podolski, though. Wenger wants to collect a fee for the Germany international, but after struggling at Inter Milan last term, he may struggle to find a club willing to meet his £100,000-per-week wages.
