Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is apparently not intending to let his phenomenal form of the 2014/15 season drop just yet, as his performances have helped book Chile into the Copa America final with a win over neighbours Peru.
And he helped out with an outrageous assist for teammate Eduardo Vargas to find the net and put the hosts through by winning 2-1.
Sanchez received the ball just outside the box and cut inside to launch a curling shot-cum-cross into space that took out the entirety of the Peruvian back line, and though Charles Aránguiz failed to connect with the ball, it hit the post and bounced out to Vargas, who couldn’t miss the resulting rebound.
Chile will now play in the final, having withstood the enormous pressure to make it there on home soil, and will take on either Argentina or Paraguay, who play on Tuesday night.
