Angel Di Maria’s potential move to Paris Saint-Germain appears to have taken a step closer today, after the winger reportedly told Manchester United he wants to leave the club after just one year.
According to the Daily Express, the former Real Madrid man has publicly suggested that he wants to battle on after a difficult first year at Old Trafford. However privately, it is a different story.
The Express report that the Ligue 1 side are leading the charge for his signature, and are considering making a £42.5m bid for the 27-year-old.
If Di Maria is to leave this summer, he would certainly find himself added to the list of big-money flops to have graced the Premier League. After a bright start following his £59.7m move, the Argentinian has endured a tough time in England.
After scoring three times in his first five games, he found the back of the net just once – in an FA Cup tie against Yeovil Town.
However, he has proved in the Copa America that he still has the talent that he displayed at last year’s World Cup. He scored twice in the semi-final thrashing of Paraguay.
