Arsenal have been handed a huge boost going into the new season by announcing that both Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla have signed new deals to extend their respective stays at The Emirates, the club’s official
The Daily Mirror claims that Walcott, 26, has signed a new four-year extension worth a reported £140,000-per-week.
Walcott is Arsenal’s longest serving player, having joined the club back in 2006, and he has now gone on to make over 300 appearances during that time, and the new deal will see him become one of the team’s top earners alongside the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez (via the Mirror).
The England international enjoyed a strong end to the 2014/15 season, bagging a hat trick on the final day clash with West Brom as well as opening the scoring in the 4-0 FA Cup victory over Aston Villa.
Likewise, Cazorla enjoyed a highly successful season. Having made the most appearances in the squad across all competitions (53 – via Arsenal.com) as well as impressing from a deeper role than he is usually used to.
Manager Arsene Wenger spoke of his delight at being able to keep hold of two of his star players by saying: “We’re delighted to have extended the contracts of Santi and Theo. Both are top quality players who are hugely important and influential to our squad.
“As well as their huge contributions on the pitch, they both have a great deal of experience and are very popular off the pitch. We’re very pleased with them both signing contract extensions, as it provides our squad with further stability of quality.”
