Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has rejected a surprising offer from Liverpool, and has instead decided to return to France.
According to the Daily
The Frenchman has developed a reputation as one of the unluckiest players in Premier League history, having suffered a staggering 42 injuries during his time in England, according to the Daily Mail. The prolonged spells on the sidelines meant that he made just 124 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s men in the top flight.
Despite his record, Brendan Rodgers was willing to give Diaby a chance to stay in the Premier League, as were West Brom, however, the midfielder turned down the Reds’ pay-as-you-play deal, according to the Express.
As well as the understandable lack of faith from Rodgers that was evident in the type of offer, Diaby may have been put off moving to Anfield, as that would mean lining up against the side that have provided him with many opportunities to prove his fitness, despite the fact that the writing seemed to be on the wall for a long time.
