Arsenal will make a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski should a deal for Real Madrid front man Karim Benzema fail to get off the ground, according to Spanish journalist Kike Marin.

After some initial speculation surrounding his future, Real now look to be stalling on whether to cash in on his signature, and now respected El Confidencial journalist Kike Marin believes the Gunners are lining up a back up option just in case.
@Arsenal Slowly, but surely. Wenger will try to sign to Benzema. If can not, Arsène has a second option 🔝 #Arsenal pic.twitter.com/zRr8JYKa82

Marin identifies this back up option as Bayern Munich front man Robert Lewandowski, who the Metro claim is rated at an expensive £44.7m.
Last month, the Polish international’s agent revealed that should he decide to depart from the Bundesliga giants then it would most likely be for the Premier League.
As it stands, Wenger has just Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as his only recognised strikers, and they have both endured a torrid time with injuries over the past 12 months. Youngster Chuba Akpom has come close to breaking through into the first team on a more regular basis, but is almost certainly still too raw to lead the line on his own.
