Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has promised fans that the club will only be looking to bring in the very best players available during the summer transfer window, the Metro
The Gunners have already splashed out £11m on Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech (via Sky Sports) and is already being linked to a series of potential signings.
Last summer, Wenger splashed out £35m on Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona (via BBC), which followed on just 12 months after he broke out the chequebook to bring Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid for a big sim, proving that he is not afraid to splash the cash when the opportunity arises.
The Metro claim that Wenger is looking to get the most out of his current set of stars ahead of the new campaign, but is also hopeful of making one or two talented additions as well.
“If we can still add some quality, we will do it,” said Wenger.
“We lost (Mesut) Ozil and (Olivier) Giroud for long periods last year and they contributed a lot in the second half of the season. Let’s hope all these players will be fit and available.
“The best way to strengthen other areas of the team is to get the players who did not play a lot last year and keep them fit.”
