Aston Villa have reportedly contacted Tottenham Hotspur with the view to opening talks about signing striker Emmanuel Adebayor, the Daily
Manager Tim Sherwood, who famously squeezed 14 goals out of the Togolese international during his spell in charge at White Heart Lane, has identified him as the ideal man to replace the Belgian goal machine, who is expected to undergo a medical with Liverpool on Monday (via BBC).
But there is a possible stumbling block in a deal that would see the 31-year-old head to Villa Park. Spurs are keen to get around £4m for his services, but the player himself is on £100,000-per-week, and Villa are hopeful of structuring a deal that would see bonuses supplement his salary.
The Mail also claims that Sherwood is still eyeing a deal to sign England winger Andros Townsend from his former club, while a possible deal for young Monaco forward Antony Martial could also be on the cards.
