Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has put distance between the rumours linking him with a summer move for struggling Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria, according to reports in talkSPORT.
The Argentine international made the move to Old Trafford last summer from Real Madrid for a British record fee of £59.7m, but despite a bright start he struggled to establish himself as a first team regular.
Speculation had claimed that the Red Devils were prepared to take a hit on the fee they’d paid for his services, though it is unlikely that they will find a buyer, as Real won’t want him back yet, while Barcelona are rumoured to be closing in on Juve star Paul Pogba.
And it now appears as though Bayern have ruled themselves out of the running for his signature.
“I don’t have to watch Argentina games, because I know him and his style of playing very well,” Guardiola said about Di Maria.
“United did not pay so much money for nothing, he is a great player. Although such transfer fees are sometimes really crazy.”
But when asked if he would be interested in signing Di Maria, he replied with a kurt “no”.
That leaves just Juventus and PSG as potential suitors.
