According to the Daily
The Star suggest that Pep Guardiola is keen on a deal as he looks to rebuild his squad. Nevertheless, it seems a strange offer, and one that Louis van Gaal would be mad not to acccept.
The Argentinian moved to Old Trafford last summer for a British transfer record fee of £59.7m (via the club’s official website), but has struggled to make the grade in the Premier League.
Although he registered three goals in his first five games, he only found the back of the net once more in his debut season – against Yeovil – and generally struggled to find any form.
Meanwhile, both Robben and Muller finished the Bundesliga season inside the top six for the division’s top goalscorers, with the Dutchman finishing with an impressive tally of 17 strikes, despite missing much of the campaign through injury.
While Robben’s age and injury record causes concern, Muller is younger than Di Maria and offers more versatility. With van Gaal set to pocket some money also, to further strengthen his options, it may be time to admit defeat in his attempts to find the player that Di Maria was at the Bernabeu.
An offer like the one Bayern are prepared to make, is unlikely to come around should the 27-year-old experience the same difficulties next year.
