Bologna planning to rescue Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli

Serie A side Bologna are planning to make a bid that would see Mario Balotelli end his Liverpool nightmare, and return to Italy.

According to the Metro, following the acquisitions of Christian Benteke, Danny Ings, and Roberto Firmino, as well as the arrival of Divock Origi, Brendan Rodgers is happy to let the 24-year-old leave Anfield this summer, as long as any interested party is able to offer £7m.

And it appears that the newly-promoted side are the most interested in giving him a chance to rebuild his career once again.

The Metro report that Bologna’s director of sport Pantaleo Corvino has insisted that the club are keen to bring the forward back to Italy, one year after the Reds signed him from AC Milan.

“Of course, Bologna have to respect certain financial parameters, but for the right price I would even look at the possibility of buying him outright,” he said.

Although the Metro suggest that the Merseyside outfit are looking for £7m, it seems unlikely, given the depth that Rodgers can now boast, that he will stand in Balotelli’s way even if Bologna’s offer falls slightly short of their asking price.
