Chelsea have confirmed that they have pounced to sign Swedish wonder kid Joseph Colley from IF Brommapojkarna and will now link up with the club’s under-18 side, the Daily
The Blues have apparently been tracking the 16-year-old since December 2013, but the club decided to allow him to remain with the Stockholm-based club to continue his development there.
His arrival was announced on the club’s official website, alongside a group of other talented teenagers making their way into Joe Edwards’ academy side.
The other youngsters joining the club are Nathan Baxter, Cole Dasilva, Josh Grant, Malakai Hinckson-Mars, Dan Kemp, Jacob Maddox, Luke McCormick, Mason Mount, Richard Nartey, Harvey St Clair, Jared Thompson, Ike Ugbo and Trevoh Chalobah – younger brother of fellow Chelsea academy graduate, Nathaniel.
Of Colley’s arrival, Joe Edwards said: “He’s a right-sided, powerful defender, comfortable also playing on the left, who likes to bring the ball out of defence.
“He’s also captained Sweden at his age group.”
The Star also claims that Manchester United were interested in the player, but the Premier League champions beat them to the punch.
