Chelsea are hoping that a record bid for John Stones may be enough to tempt Everton into selling the youngster, and their hopes of sealing a move have been boosted as the defender would reportedly be interested in a switch to the Premier League champions.
According to the Daily
While the Express report that the Toffees have already told Jose Mourinho following the previous offers which were rejected by the Merseyside club, that Stones was not for sale, Chelsea may take hope from a report in The Sun which suggests that the youngster would be keen on a move.
“This is not a Raheem Sterling situation where there’s any bad feeling between John and the club or vice-versa – but John is definitely interested in going to Chelsea,” a source reportedly close to the player claimed.
Should Roberto Martinez find a record offer on the table, and a player wanting to talk to another club, he may feel he has little choice but to consider how he is going to go about replacing one of his most promising players.
