David de Gea’s move to Real Madrid could now be nearer after club legend Iker Casillas agreed his departure from the Bernabeu.
According to The Sun, the Manchester United stopper was less keen to move back to the city he left four years ago while the 34-year-old was still around. And after Casillas reportedly suggested that he plans to see out the final two seasons on his contract, it appeared there was still hope that de Gea would remain at Old Trafford, at least for another campaign.
However, the Spain captain has now decided that he wishes to join Porto, The Sun report, clearing the way for his compatriot to join the ten-time champions of Europe.
The Sun suggest that all stands between a deal now being done is the two clubs agreeing a fee, with United wanting £25m (via The Sun), although the Daily Star previously suggested that Louis van Gaal will only be willing to let his goalkeeper go if Madrid make him the most expensive stopper of all time.
