The 31-year-old arrived in Istanbul to a heroes welcome, where he was presented with a Fenerbahce scarf and posed for pictures with members of the cheering crowd.
With one-year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, a representative from the Turkish side confirmed last week that they would be making a move to lure him away from Manchester.
Van Persie himself also confirmed that he would be on his way, saying: “I am coming to a fantastic and wonderful club.
“It is a great honour for me.”
Van Persie arrived at United for £24m in 2012, and fired the Red Devils to the title in his first season.
However, he struggled for both form and fitness last term, bagging just ten goals across all competitions.
