Popular Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news about the deal and claims that the Red Devils will pay Torino a fee of around £12.75m for the 25-year-old right-back.

The Italian international’s potential arrival could finally spell the end of the line for Rafael, who made just 11 appearances for the club last term.

Darmian has been garnering a strong reputation for himself recently, and is being viewed as one of the best full-backs in Serie A.

Having began his career with Milan, he spent time out on loan with Padova, and a season with Palermo, he was picked up by Torino in 2011, going on to make a total of 152 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.

He has also picked up 13 caps for the Italian national side, and is expected to pick up many more.
