Kevin De Bruyne must hand in transfer request if he wants Man City move

Wolfsburg have reportedly told Kevin De Bruyne that if he wishes to join Manchester City this summer, he will need to hand in a transfer request, the Daily Star report.

The Star suggest that the playmaker is the one name that is left on Manuel Pellegrini’s summer wishlist, having already signed the likes of Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph.

However, the Star suggest that the Bundesliga outfit are keen to put a side together that is able to build upon an excellent season last year, as they came second in the top flight and secured the German Cup for the first time in their history.

The Star report however, that a source has claimed that Wolfsburg’s stance could change if the former Chelsea man makes his feelings clear.

“If something is going to happen then the player needs to put in a transfer request, then it will be a case of Wolfsburg getting the biggest price possible,” the Star’s source said.

The Citizens will be desperate for De Bruyne to lay his cards on the table, and admit that he wants a switch to the Etihad as he could be the player that helps the club get their hands on the Premier League trophy for a third time.

Having often been used on the wing at Stamford Bridge, he has now established himself as one of the most threatening players in Europe, having become prolific in terms of creating goals for his teammates, and he has done it having been moved into a central position.

If City decide to use him in the role that has made him one of the best playmakers in the game, rather than the one which led to Chelsea discarding him, then he may be the player that sends them back towards the title.
