He has instead decided to join Marseille following his release from the Gunners.
Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he decided that Jordan Henderson would the club’s new skipper, after seeing the way that the midfielder conducted himself when he was vice-captain to Steven Gerrard, the Daily Star report.
“Obviously Jordan was one of the players that I thought about, but once I saw him grow and develop as the vice-captain then I felt pretty sure that this would be the season he could be the captain,” he explained.
Finally, the Merseyside club may have missed out on one of their targets, after the Metro reported that Manchester United had offered a trial and expected to complete a deal for Barnsley midfielder Paul Digby.
