Liverpool open talks with Paris Saint-Germain over possible move for Lucas Digne

Liverpool have reportedly held talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible deal for defender Lucas Digne, according to the Daily Express.

The 22-year-old has struggled to break into the first-team since his £10.5m move from Lille (via Express) two years ago. Laurent Blanc’s apparent preference for veteran Maxwell meant that the Frenchman was restricted to just 15 appearances in the top flight during the last campaign.

The failure to break into the side has reportedly led to Digne telling the club that he wishes to leave, the Express report, with Liverpool appearing to lead the charge for his signature.

The Reds have already done a lot of business this summer, but still lack depth on the left side of defence. While Alberto Moreno was exciting at times last season, he seemed to shirk his defensive responsibilities on several occasions.

And though Joe Gomez has done a good job in the position during pre-season, he is more natural on the right or in the centre.
