Manchester United are believed to have launched a £17.6m move for Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia, according to the Metro.

Reports in Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport claim the Red Devils had attempted to open talks with the Rome-based giants about a possible move for the 29-year-old, but their offer was too low and they signed Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger instead.
Biglia has spent the majority of his career in Belgium, where he made over 200 appearances for Anderlecht before eventually hooking up with Lazio in 2013.
The Metro claim that the Argentine had been on Arsenal’s radar earlier this summer, but it now appears that United have stolen ahead in the race for his signature.
However, having recently added Bastian Schweinstewiger and Morgan Schneiderlin to their ranks, a big money move for another central midfielder may prove to be a tall order when they have other positions – namely in attack – that need more attention and money.
