Manchester United are about to announce the capture of highly-rated Barnsley defender Mason Holgate, according to reports in the Metro.
Having impressed the United coaching staff, it is believed that he will sign on the dotted line shortly and an official announcement will be made at some point in the next 48 hours.
League One side Barnsley will receive a reported £1m for Holgate, who can feature either as a centre-back or on the right side of the defence.
Premier League rivals Arsenal had previously been keeping a close watch on his development, but it now seems that United have won the race to snap him up.
Having made his breakthrough into the Barnsley side last season, he went on to make a total of 22 appearances for The Tykes, scoring one goal.
