Juventus striker Fernando Llorente is said to be the mystery name on Manchester United’s radar this summer, according to a report in the Metro.

The Metro says that Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has been dropping hints recently that he is close to bringing in a new striker to help lighten the burden from the shoulders of Wayen Rooney and Javier Hernandez – the club’s only two experienced strikers.

Van Gaal told reporters that a deal for a new striker is close (via Metro) and story in the Daily Mirror claims that the ‘mystery man’ is the Spanish international, who has been offered up to United from the Serie A champions.

Juventus are eager to move the 30-year-old on this summer, having brought in Paolo Dybala from Palermo and Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid to compete for a starting spot with Alvaro Morata.

United are thought to be looking to wrap up a deal quickly and have been asked to be kept up to date with his situation.

Llorente joined Juve in the summer of 2013, and went on to bag 29 goals in 90 appearances, helping the club to two Serie A titles and a Copa Italia trophy.
